Easily direct traffic through work zones and closed lanes with our Stop Slow Paddles!
Stop slow paddles are commonly used in areas of road construction to promote better safety for workers and motorists alike. One side resembles a standard American stop sign, while the other side features the word “SLOW.” This double-sided design provides clear instructions to oncoming drivers. Because each direction of oncoming traffic sees a different message, the potential for confusion (and collisions) is significantly reduced!
Transline’s stop slow paddles sport large letters and high-contrast colors, making them easy to see from a distance. Their visibility can be further improved with engineer grade, high intensity, or diamond grade reflective sheeting. Silkscreened signs that offer durability and legibility without any reflective sheeting are also available.
We offer two options for stop slow paddle handles: regular wood or vibrant, safety orange. Both handle choices are 81” tall.
How to Use
MUTCD standards dictate that any stop slow paddles intended for use during nighttime hours should be retro-reflectorized. If you are unsure as to whether or not your project will necessitate overnight work, we recommend ordering reflective signage. Silkscreened signs should ONLY be used when there is plenty of ambient light at the construction area and no weather conditions (e.g., fog, rain, snow) that could affect driver visibility. If you have any other questions or concerns about sign reflectivity standards, please consult with a Transline representative.
Detailed instructions for correct paddle usage can be found on the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) website under Section 6E: Hand-Signaling Control. To help ensure the safety of workers and bystanders, please review the OSHA guidelines before using this product!
