All of our octagon-shaped paddles meet the requirements set by the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices).
Stop/Slow paddles are vital tools for ensuring safety in work zones on roads. Their simple, double-sided design is highly effective: one side displays a standard stop sign while the other features the word “SLOW.” This provides clear and distinct instructions to drivers, significantly reducing confusion and the risk of collisions.
Our paddles are designed with large lettering and high-contrast colors for maximum visibility from a distance. For even greater visibility, especially in low light, you can choose paddles with Engineer Grade, High Intensity, or Diamond Grade reflective sheeting. Alternatively, durable and legible silk-screened signs are also available.
Every paddle comes with an 81-inch-tall handle, with the option of either a traditional wood handle or a highly visible, safety orange one.
MUTCD standards require that any stop/slow paddles intended for nighttime use must be retro-reflectorized. If you’re uncertain whether your project will require work overnight, we recommend ordering reflective signage. Silkscreened signs should only be used when there is adequate ambient light in the construction area and when weather conditions (such as fog, rain, or snow) do not impair driver visibility.
