Glass beads are one of the easiest, most cost-effective ways to increase the visibility of pavement markings and promote better safety for everyone in the immediate area. When integrated into paint, the tiny, sand-like grains of glass will not compromise the paint’s stability, coloration, or ability to adhere to surfaces. However, if light is shined upon the marking, the embedded glass will reflect it, giving the marking an illuminated appearance. This makes them an ideal choice for roadways, runways, and streets with little ambient light and/or poor nighttime visibility.

Please note that the ideal ratio of beads to paint ranges from 6 pounds per gallon to 10 pounds per gallon, based primarily upon individual bead size and reflectivity. If you are unsure which type of bead to select for your project, a Transline Industries representative will be happy to assist you.
